Dr. Satan and Hennessy adopted by Judas and Leighann on 09/16/2022

We adopted the boys on the same day when they were both about two months old. Despite not knowing each other beforehand, they had taken to each other as brothers within minutes of arriving home with them. They became and still remain inseperable. Now the boys are almost a year old, and not only do they enrich each others’ lives, they enrich our lives greatly. They are so, so loved – and we would not change a single thing about them.

Ozzie adopted by Jessica on 07/04/2012

My mom adopted Ozzie for me when I was 8 years old. I’m 20 years old now. He has given me 11 years of hope, companionship, and friendship. I originally adopted him because the photos looked like he was smiling, and I knew I needed a happy companion. What I got was so much more. I will never have another dog who connects to my soul the way he has. He was with me when I went to middle school, learned how to drive, graduated high school, graduated college, and he is still with me now as an adult. A year ago, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Although I wish he could live forever, I will be there for him tomorrow as he has been there for me for so many years. I will comfort him one last time. Thank you for giving me my best friend. I don’t know how I would have made it without him. This is a repost as the last one did not attach his photo correctly.

Steve Harrington | Success Story

Steve Harrington (Formerly known as Jeremiah) adopted by Rindi and Anthony on 09/21/2022

Steve Harrington | Success StoryMy husband and 7 year old son have only ever owned dogs. But in April of this year our beloved border collie of 9 years, he developed cancer and passed away. It was hard for all of us to even attempt to start over, but we longed to love a new pet. We never expected to end up with a cat. None of us had ever owned a cat, but we agreed one would probably fit into our lifestyle fine. We spent a long time hunting for a new family member that just “clicked” and felt right. Every pet we saw though lovely, we just missed our dog more and more. Until we met Jeremiah, the 1.5 year old ginger boy. He was in the bottom kennel behind glass, but he immediately took to our son. Already trying to paw at him. Once he was in a room with us, he made himself at home. He jumped straight onto my husbands lap and was ready to go home. He wasn’t startled by my 7 year old, and he didn’t bite my hubby ( the ONLY cat never to do so so far), we were sold. It’s an adjustment going from a dog to cat, but now I can’t picture our home without him. He was promptly renamed Steve Harrington (from the show Stranger Things) and immediately bonded with our son. He drags Steve around everywhere, feeds him, plays with him, cuddles with him, does homework with him. EVERYTHING. He cannot leave Steve alone, and Steve meows when my kid is in his room without him. He has been the kindest most patient cat I’ve ever met. Little mischievous, but absolutely the perfect kitty for our family. And he’s even making a name for himself on Instagram (Steve_withthegoodhair). I’m so glad we found you Steve. <3

Bleu

Bleu (formerly known as Henry) adopted by Lauren Wood on 07/16/2022

BleuPrior to December 2021, I never considered myself to be much of a cat mommy. I offered to babysit my brother’s cat (Maggie) for a little bit. Well, my sons and I fell in love with his cat! Next thing you know, Maggie joins my little family. Lately, I have felt as though Maggie needed a sibling. My brother offered to come with me to see if I could find a sibling for her. He suggested we visit the Petsmart in Irving where I instantly knew once I saw Bleu that he belonged in our family. He has been the sweetest addition and is a blessing to my life. I feel grateful to have found him! Thank you DFW humane society for all of your hard work on giving these babies a new home.
