Pet Surrender Information

Owner-Released Pet Surrender Suspended

DFWHS will not be accepting owner surrendered animals at this time.

Pet owners are encouraged to either keep their pet until normal operations resume or find a new permanent home for their pet on their own. Some helpful resources include Adopt-A-Pet Rehome and the Alley Cat Angels website.

Please note:

  • All stray pets found in Irving need to be reported and placed with Irving Animal Services so they are more likely to be reclaimed by the owner. If you have found a stray pet outside of Irving, please contact your local City Animal Services to report the found pet.
  • We are unable to accept pets under 8 weeks of age because of their susceptibility to disease and fragile condition. Shelter life is not conducive for the little ones.
  • We are unable to accept pets in need of medical attention because we do not have a vet on staff.
  • We accept pets by appointment only based on space availability. We do not process on-the-spot surrenders.

All intake requests will be considered, but we cannot guarantee placement in our shelter.
