1- Pick up your Trainer Passport at the front desk
2- Inside, you’ll find a list of adoptable “Pokémon” (a.k.a. our adorable dogs and cats)
3- Explore the shelter to find and “meet” each Pokémon on your list. stamp your passport as you go.
4- Collect all your stamps, and you’ll unlock a $25 adoption fee for your new best friend!

Our hearts are heavy for sweet Lulu this week 💔 This gentle senior is now sporting a cone and vet wraps on both front legs after injuring herself during a recent thunderstorm. Terrified by the thunder, Lulu panicked and tried to escape her kennel, hurting her wrists in the process.
She's now on pain medication and being treated by staff, but what she really needs more than anything is peace, quiet, and the feeling of safety that only a real home can offer! Please keep Lulu in your thoughts, and if you’ve ever considered fostering or adopting a senior pup, Lulu would be a great girl to consider!

⚠️ Caution: This video shows a cat experiencing a mild asthma attack, which may be distressing to watch. We are sharing this video to educate pet parents on what a real-life health event looks like.

This is Dionysus, a sweet resident at DFW Humane Society, and what you’re seeing is a feline asthma attack. It might look like he’s coughing up a hairball, but felines can suffer from asthma the same way people do- and it can be serious if left untreated.

Common symptoms include:
🐾Open-mouthed/ Rapid breathing
🐾Wheezing
🐾Coughing or Hacking
🐾Vomiting
If you notice these signs in your cat, especially if they recur, please contact your vet immediately.

Feline asthma is manageable! Most cats respond well to treatment with corticosteroids- often administered using a special inhaler and mask just for cats.

We are facing a critical deadline — Luna needs a temporary foster to make her way to a rescue in the Northeast at the end of June, where she’ll finally get the fresh start she deserves. After over a year in our shelter and enduring tough allergy treatments due to her sensitivities here in North Texas, this is her big chance at a better life.

💛 Here’s the catch: To transport, she must be out of the shelter for 2 full weeks — and we can split the time between multiple foster homes if needed!

🎉 YOU DID IT - YOU AND YOUR SHARES — Luna has found a rescue up north that’s opening their hearts to her! With a new environment, we’re hopeful that her severe environmental allergies will finally ease and she can thrive. 💛
But we have a special ask to get her there…
🚨 Luna needs to be out of the shelter for at least 2 weeks before her transport at the end of June — and we can split this up into smaller increments if we have enough people step up to help!
🐾 If you missed her story:
Luna was adopted as a puppy but returned after developing severe allergies. She’s been in our shelter nearly a full year now. After seeing a dermatologist and undergoing extensive testing, we learned many of her triggers are tied to this region of Texas.
Thanks to a specialized allergy serum, she’s managing better — but a fresh start in a new climate could make all the difference.

❤️ Through it all, Luna remains a joyful, loving girl. She loves:
-Hiding her treats
-Splashing in water
-Snuggling up close to her people
She’s only 2 years old and deserves a life outside of a kennel. Please help us get her there! PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE.

Izzy is a resilient soul with a heart full of love and so much life still to live. At around 9 years old, she’s calm, affectionate, and would make a wonderful family companion. Her one ask? She wants to be your one and only—she truly shines as the only pet in the home.
Despite having only three legs, Izzy doesn’t let anything slow her down. She’s strong, adaptable, and simply wants what all dogs deserve—a soft bed, kind humans, and a place to call home.
The shelter is no place for a senior, especially one who has already waited this long. Being in this environment for so long has taken a toll on her spirit, and we know she would truly flourish in a loving home.

🎂 Goofy Just Turned 2… and He Spent It in the Shelter 💔
Our sweet Goofy just reached his 2nd birthday, but instead of celebrating in a warm, loving home, he spent it behind shelter walls. This little Lhasa Apso mix has come such a long way from the rough start he had in life.
Because of his breed and what he’s been through, Goofy’s first instinct is to protect himself when facing new things—but under that cautious exterior is a gentle soul who just wants to be loved. He’s improving every day, learning that not everything is scary, and that people can be kind.
What Goofy needs most now is an experienced, patient foster or adopter—someone who will show him the world isn’t so bad and give him the love and safety he’s never truly had. ❤️

Our sweet Campbell is back with us, through no fault of his own. 💔 Adopted as a baby and recently surrendered, this handsome young gentleman has grown into the most affectionate, curious, and gentle soul.
Campbell came to us last kitten season with his mom and three siblings, all absolutely terrified. But with daily love and care, we watched him bloom into the perfect companion. He’s wonderful with children, does great with other cats, and we believe he’d do just fine with dogs too!
Right now, Campbell is hanging out with Sweet Tart in our Cat Colony Room — patiently waiting for someone to walk in and give him the forever home he truly deserves. 🐱💕

Introducing Persephone, our radiant 3-year-old feline beauty named after the Queen of the Underworld herself — though don't let the name fool you, this Persephone brings only light, love, and lots of chatter wherever she goes!
Recently surrendered due to an adopter’s allergies (a mortal tragedy indeed), Persephone remains the picture of grace and sweetness. With her regal demeanor and vocal wisdom, she always has something to say — whether it's requesting more chin scritches or offering her divine commentary on daily life.
She is affectionate, loving, and simply deserving of a home as majestic as she is.
