Townley Students Use Imagination for Shelter Pets

Townley Elementary students and DFWHS volunteer, Pat, show off the results of their Destination Imagination service learning project.

A group of Townley Elementary students recently completed a community service project for the Destination Imagination program focused on supporting shelter pets.

Gabby, Minh, Lam, Roxana (all pictured), and several other Townley Elementary students chose DFW Humane Society pets as the basis of their Service Learning project for their Destination Imagination competition.

The students created a plan to collect vital donations to help with the care of pets currently waiting for their forever homes at our shelter. The team set up donation bins for each grade level at Townley Elementary and assigned a specific wish list item to those grade levels.

When the donation drive was complete, the students delivered the amazing results to the shelter. While at the shelter, volunteers treated them to a tour of the facility, introduced them to some of the pets that their efforts helped, and received goody bags that included a DFW Humane Society teddy bear, an animal rescue activity book, and other small items as a thank you for their extraordinary efforts.

DFW Humane Society staff and volunteers, and most importantly our pets, are beyond grateful for their compassion, hard work, and wonderful results.
