Brownie adopted by Mike Linn on 04/23/2020

April 23 Brownie came home with us. After she arranged her bed to suit her, she discovered that the males in family needed physical conditioning. She immediately scheduled twice daily walks and numerous games of fetch. The family had to be taught the finer points of fetch and Brownie has supported our efforts with lots of face licks and ear washing when we meet her standards. We are still trying to meet Brownie’s standards but she is patience with us. We are indeed a lucky family to have so much love join our family.

Sabo

Sabo (formerly known as Chief) adopted by Laura on 04/16/2020

SaboThis was our first time adopting from a shelter and I was very weary what shelter behavior we would have to adjust to. Sabo, who I was told was in the shelter since August of 2019, has proved so many of my concerns wrong as he adjusted so well to home life from the very beginning. He almost instantly picked up housetraining and crate training (and I’m no professional trainer by any means), and loves to play with the toys we and the shelter provided to him. He’s a big cuddle bug for his momma and a great running buddy for his dad. There’s no doubt that there can be natural challenges when you have a dog in the adolescent stage (the teenage phase), such as the abundance of energy and the shelter warned us about this, but with research and patience, we have come this far and he continues to bring so much joy and laughter into our daily lives. I encourage prospective adopters to understand that what you see at the shelter is not always the animal’s true character – it could be even better! My Sabo came off as the energizer bunny upon initial adoption, but at home he could be the biggest lounger and has no problem playing by himself to stay occupied. Love my rescue doggo!

Burger

Burger (formerly Suess) adopted by Melody on 02/18/2020

BurgerWe fell in love with Burger as soon as we saw his picture. His grumpy face and too many tiny teeth were irresistible

Burger is an old man, and he was going through heart worm treatment. He had been in the shelter for a long time already. Still, I was thrilled to be the first application for him.

Burger fits into our lives wonderfully. He can be super playful, very gentle, and perfectly grumpy. He spends most days laying on his bean bag watching me work or running around with our 5 year old in the back yard.

Thank you! Seriously, thank you so much for saving our grumpy old man. We will never know his past, but we know his future will continue to be full of love.

Jim & Brownie

Mona adopted by Maddison on 04/10/2020

My husband and I have been married for almost a year, and we inherited a cat from my parents when we got married. We have enjoyed our time as a family of 3 until about January of this year. We started to think, “Maybe our family is ready for one more.” So we did our research about cat adoptions and introducing cats to each other. We waited 4 months until we were ready. We found the DFW Humane Society and instantly fell in love with Mona’s picture online. We called the next day to come up and meet her in person. She is so calm and loving. We knew we had to adopt her. The first night we brought her home, she was a cuddle bug. She has her own room in the house, and her sister doesn’t seem to mind the new smell on our clothes. We are so thankful we found our girl, Mona. We can’t wait to continue making memories with her.

Mini adopted by Ciara on 04/04/2020

I have wanted a cat for so long I couldn’t even give you a timeline… I have went to countless adoption centers, shelters, and looked at rehoming groups online, but could never find a cat that was right for me. After seeing a picture of my little angel online, I knew I had to meet her! When I walked in to see her all of the cats were out but she walked right up to me and the workers said she has NEVER done that with ANYONE! In that moment I just knew that I needed her sweet face in my life.
She has been nothing but an absolute love bug since I brought her home and makes it known that she needs to be cuddled, which is Just what I wanted. I could go on and on about how much joy Mini has brought to my life in the short amount of time that I have had her.. but that might be a little too much to read!
Long story short… Mini has definitely brought happiness back into my life and I can’t begin to thank her enough <3
