Tonka and Dozer adopted by Loren Byers on 10/30/2019

Tonka and Dozer have been on our minds for the last year. We had another adopted dog who was 10 years old, formerly known as Shiner but renamed Zane and we were not sure he could adjust to a bonded pair. Unfortunately, Zane passed away recently. Although losing a pet is hard, we knew what we needed to do next. Tonka and Dozer were waiting patiently for us to come visit. Once we met them, we knew where they belonged! The next day, we brought them home where they have thrived! We are so blessed! Attached is a picture of them 4 days later. They have learned how to use the electric dog door and go outside at will. They are so sweet and polite when taking treats. They are still getting used to indoor appliance sounds and are very curious, smelling everything new. Tonka is the more curious and Dozer just leaves the scene if he’s unsure or comes to us for reassurance that he’s safe. We are thrilled! They have meet our neighbors and their children and are politely greeting everybody, sitting and waiting to be petted and loved on. Such good manners!

Diego adopted by Joe on 03/03/2018

I grew up as a dog person so I was unsure of how to feel when my partner told me he wanted a cat. When we went to the DFW Humane Society there were several cats to choose from but Diego stood out because of his adorable orange fur. When we brought him home it took him a few days to relax but once he did he became the best pet I’ve ever had. Now everyday when I come home from work he comes down to greet me with a meow. It’s been almost 2 years and this little fur ball has taught me that I can be both a dog and cat person. I’ll always be grateful to the Humane Society for bringing him into my life.

Robbery (formerly known as Angus) adopted by Patrick on 02/27/2019

Me and my wife adopted Robbery after our other dog was hit by a car. I remember walking into the humane society asking if Angus was still available and there he was behind the counter with a bone in his mouth. Robbery’s a great dog and is living his best life.

Norman (formerly known as Norns) adopted by Maddy on 08/17/2019

I moved to DFW at the beginning of the summer. I have one cat already, but my new job keeps me away for most of the day during the week. I just knew he needed a friend! I went to the shelter, and Norman was suggested as a favorite by one of the volunteers. It was love at first sight! He is so playful and so cuddly. He makes my 5 year old cat act like a kitten again! I’m so in love! Thank you DFW Humane Society for bringing us together ❤️

ONYX (FORMERLY KNOWN. AS KAL) adopted by Anika on 08/10/2019

I haven’t had a fur baby in about 5 years and was feeling a huge void. Visiting the babies at the shelter usually refills my tank. On August 3rd my hubby and I visited the Irving Shelter side of the facility and met Kal. We spent some significant time with him. He was timid at 1st but quickly warmed up to us, was quiet, sat nicely and was very aware of his surroundings. . At that time my hubby was not in board with us having a fur baby. Reluctantly I had to put Kal back. I couldn’t get him off my mind! I kept looking online and talking to my hubby. Wednesday my hubby agreed I could get him. I kept looking online and called. Hoping he would still be there by the weekend (earliest I could make it back during business hours). I even. Picked out his new name because it represents soothing during emotional turmoil. Friday August 9th I looked on the site and he was no longer listed. My heart fell as I thought someone had adopted him. I called and was told that he had been loved to the humane society side… I was so happy!! Saturday morning I went yo see him. Spent over 2 hours with him and was still as sweet as ever. I even heard him. Bark, lol. I. Still had to get things ready for him at home so wasn’t able to take him. The team was so great, and while we were talking someone else seemed interested in adopting him. I quickly grabbed his paper and started the adoption process and brought him home! He has quickly adapted to his new surroundings. Is making friends with neighbor fur babies and is still the sweetest baby ever!!! Thank you so much as he brightens each day (he has grown on my hubby too😁😁)
